Another year older.......

Hmmmm. Well here is a pic of the LO I made at the last Penally crop. It's a pants page, yet it managed to take me all day! The challenge was to use mainly black and red, with a hint of another colour if needed (yep, I really stuck to that one didn't I - cop a load of all that pink!!!); to use 2 pics (OK, so I used the same pic twice, that's not cheating is it?!); and it had to include a heart somewhere. It was debated whether the three tiny rub on hearts I added to the left of the main picture counted (and I still maintain that they did in fact fulfill the brief on their own), however I added a heart-shaped wing to the felt birdie I made to please the strict judges lol!!!!
The picture is of my two best uni buddies, and centres on Vicki's greeting of "Alright bird?" every time she sees us. It has become something of our catchphrase now.

Right - I need your help. Which pic is best, the first one or the one on the easel? I've had enough of flapping about with Sister Vista and the PC from Hell, and was wondering if just taking the pics on an easel gives a better perspective of the overall LO without the need for editing. Not that it's a life or death situation or anything I know, but I would like half decent pics of my work!!! Opinions on a post card please!!!

Last week was a very special week for me! When we were 16, my cousin moved, all alone, to the US before settling in Canada. With our fathers being twins and only two months between us in age, we grew up being very close, and were often mistaken for twins ourselves. Although we kept in touch, I had not seen him since he left the UK, but last week he returned home with his partner for a holiday which give us a chance for a long over due catch up!!!

We went out for a lovely civilised meal on Wednesday, where as Saturday gave us more of a chance to consume some bevvies and let our hair down. Followed by the obligatory curry, of course! It wasn't until looking at the pictures I noticed that Lee and I were perfectly coordinated in green that evening - when the hell does that ever happen?!! Definitely one to be scrapped rofl!!! Just need to find some suitably green-tinged paper from the new CHA releases now!!Well, it was me birthday yesterday, and apart from having a throat infection which meant I had to surrender to my bed by 9pm, I had a lovely day :)
The slight downside to having a birthday is that my house is now full of chocolate which, quite literally, has my name all over it.
Will I succumb to the choco-heaven and abandon my new found love of the gym for the sugary delights now in my possession?
Stay tuned to find out lol!!!

Catch you soon xxx

All's quiet.........

It's been a fairly quiet ole week here!

Went to the lovely Penally Crop in Pontypridd on Saturday and had a lovely day. It was a shame that Gems could not come along with my sister and I as usual, but hopefully she can join us for the jaunt next month. I decided to enter the challenge, and spent the WHOLE day working on a page which, essentially, ended up consisting of a couple of strips of patterned paper, a blob of paint and a title. I am now officially South Wales's slowest scrapper, and I'm even willing to venture possibly Britain's slowest scrapper. If anyone would like to challenge my title, you are most welcome!! I will try to get a picture of the offending LO up soon, but it really is pants and I'm not all that happy with it.

It was half term this week, and although we had lectures as normal, we obviously had no school placement on Wednesday, so I offered to babysit my niece for the day. It was a lovely, fresh, bright day, so we wrapped up warm and toddled off to the park to feed the ducks and play on the swings. Bless her little heart when it came to throwing the bread to the ducks - she could just about drop it on to the stone walling on the other side of the railing that surrounds the lake!! I had a lovely day with her and spoiled her a bit, but what else are nieces for, and she really is such a little smasher!!! She has Gypo style hair in all the pics I took, as unfortunately for her, her Auntie Tallie was tasked with getting her dressed and putting her pigtails in that morning!Speaking of which, here's a page I made of her a few weeks back, using one of the photos from her birthday. It's another fantastically crappy photo, really must see about sorting some software out!!
I had a surprise out of the blue last week and found out and I will be receiving some money in a few weeks. I was planning on putting some aside to treat myself to some of the new CHA releases, but now I'm really tempted to put the whole lot towards a DSLR. Decision decisions! What's a girl to do?

Whooopeeee!

I'm not ashamed to admit I lead a sheltered and sad life (lol). And if you weren't already aware of that fact, here is the proof:

I am absolutely PEEING MY PANTS with excitement that season 4 of LOST comes to our screens tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Yep, so I need to get a life. But I am excited!!! Season 3 ended with one hell of a cliff hanger and, apparently, we will be getting some answers in this season. Undoubtedly, these answers will just lead to more questions, but I don't care - I'm hooked man!!!! It means a 16 mile round trek to my mums to view it (as we've only got cable and those nasty peeps at Sky took Sky One from cable viewers), but I'll be armed with some suitable sugary snacks for the trip and Lost-fest, so it's all good! Hope the first episode will not be a disappointment.

I've been a good little bunny this week and I've joined the gym (again - yeah yeah, I know!!). But this time I get an amazing rate because I'm a student (if I only use the gym once a week I've already had my moneys worth) and the membership includes unlimited use of the gym and pool and all the classes that they offer, in all the sites all over Swansea. I've been to the gym twice and went swimming after uni yesterday. Tomorrow evening (before Lost lol) I'm going to aqua aerobics and for a swim.

Go me, oh newly crowned goddess of fitness!

I had my second uni assignment back this week. I was really nervous because although English has always been one of my favourite subjects, our assignment was as far removed from anything I had studied at GCSE and A-level as possible and really felt that I'd messed the essay up. Couple that with the fact that our results were delayed in being returned to us due to an unusually high proportion of fails which needed verifying (according to our lecturer), I was pretty much pooping my proverbial pants. So you can imagine I was totally surprised and relieved to have got an A :)

Here's another scrapbook page I've made in the last few weeks. Again, it gives a nod to the secret flap fetish I seem to have at the moment. It's for Ellie's album and explains why my grandparents wanted to be known to her by the German names for Gran and Grandpa. I wanted to include three pictures on the page, a group shot and one of Ellie with each of them, but the 8.5x11 size just wouldn't support it, hence the little mini book which pulls out from behind the main pic. It was also a great place to put a little bit of journalling about each of my grandparents in there and a brief account of how they met each other. I hope you are totally digging the blurry, wonky drab pics I'm posting of late!!!
This seemingly inconspicuous square of patterned paper pulls out and is, in fact, a mini book. Who ever thought scrapbooking could get so exciting huh?! rofl! Post again soon my lovelies xxx
